How long will it take before I see results?

Generally, people will begin to notice beneficial changes within one to four weeks of beginning the program. These improvements usually progressively build over the three to six months of the initial phase of the program depending on your adherence to the recommendations made. Achieving a final state of optimal health is a process that can take years in some cases, depending on the level of dysfunction present. The degree of illness you are currently experiencing and the length of time you have been ill are good indicators of the depth of dysfunction that your cells are experiencing. The deeper this dysfunction, the longer the process. Your motivation and adherence to treatment recomendations is a large determinant of the speed of recovery. The more closely you adhere to the program the quicker your progress will be.

Why does Dr. Dunston offer care in programs?

The nature of root cause resolution medical care varies markedly from traditional medical care, which is focused on symptom resolution using drugs and surgery. Functional Medicine is focused on root cause resolution and necessitates deliberate, consistent evaluation and management to address these issues. Having to pay to see your doctor disincentives you from utilizing her services. This type of care requires consistent communication such that a close relationship is formed between clinician and client. Because Functional Medicine is not yet the standard of care for all medical practices there are clinicians who practice this type of medicine in a piecemeal model and address only certain aspects of a patient's health, ie bioidentical hormones and nothing else. Dr. Dunston is well aware of the drawbacks of not addressing all aspects of a person's health and understands that for optimum outcomes, the entire person must be treated. This is most efficiently carried out in a program model of care.

Does Dr. Dunston treat men?

Although Dr. Dunston has worked with males in the past she chooses to focus her practice on treating women who desire to heal naturally and can make a referral to a like minded practitioner who treats men as needed.

Do you accept health insurance payment?

Although we do not directly accept health insurance payment, you will be provided with a superbill for office visits and some tests that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Health insurance typically covers traditional medical care and not the specialized type of care that Functional Medicine provides. Mainstream medical care offers symptom control care, which is how “health” is defined in our culture. It does not provide for the creation of vitality, which is a state of optimum health functioning.

What payment options are there?

Dr. Dunston is able to extend a discount for in-full payment of all programs upon signing or finance free installment payment agreements over the duration of each program. Payments can be made via Paypal, credit card or HSA debit card.

Do you accept HAS or FSA payments?
